How many states of matter are there? List them
Answers
Answer:
solid , liquid and gas are the states of matter
We know that,
There are three states of matter :-
- Solid
- Liquid
- Gas
Solid : In solids, the particles are closely packed. There is a strong force of attraction between the particles of a solid which holds them together in fixed positions. Thus, the positions of particles in a solid are fixed.
- Solids have a fixed shape and a fixed volume.
- Solids cannot be compressed much.
- Solids have high densities. They are heavy.
- Solids don't fill thier container completely.
- Solids do not flow.
Liquids : In liquids, the particles are close together, but they are not as close as in solids. In fact, the particles are somewhat loosely packed in liquids. The spaces between the particles of a liquid are slightly more than that in a solid but they are still very small.
- Liquids have a fixed volume but they have no fixed space. Liquids take tge shape of the vessel in which they are placed.
- Like solids, liquids cannot be compressed much.
- Liquids have moderate to high densities. They are ususlly less dense than solids.
- Liquids don not fill their container completely.
- Liquids generally flow easily.
Gas : In gases, the particles are much farther apart from one another as compared to solids and liquids. The spaces between the particles of a gas are very large. The force of attraction between the particles of a gas is negligible.
- Gases have neither fixed shape nor a fixed volume.Gas acquire the shape and volume of the vessel they are kept.
- Gases can be compressed easily.
- Gases have very low densities.
- Gases fill thier container completely.
- Gases flow easily.
- Plasma
- BEC [ Bose - Einstein Condensate ]
