Aiankaar is also known as 'palta'. Before teaching actual singing, the student is first taught the aiankaar because true knowledge of notes is not attained without it and he also does not get success in musical art in long run. Alankar also helps in raag vistar. [Raag Vistar - Elaboration raag by notes while remaining in its set composition /form.] A raga can be beautified musically with the help of alankar. The taan (taan = notes sung in drutlay) etc. also depends upon aiankaar such as sare, gare, gama ..gama..pa..rega..rega..mapa..dha etc.
