⇒ 23 = - 4 + (n - 1)2
⇒ 23 = - 4 + 2n - 2
⇒ 23 = 2n - 6
⇒ 2n = 23 + 6
⇒ 2n = 29
⇒ n = 29/2
⇒ n = 14.5
n = 14.5 is not possible.
