Given length of tile = 12cm
Breadth = 5cm
Length of the region = 144cm
breadth = 100cm
No.of tiles needed to cover = Area of region/Area of 1 tile
= (144 × 100)/(5 × 12)
= 14400/60
= 240
∴No.of tiles required to cover a region of dimensions 100 cm and 144cm is 240
b) length of the region = 70cm
breadth of the region = 36cm
No.of tiles = Area of the region / Area of 1 tile
= (70 × 36)/(5 × 12)
= 2520/60
= 42
∴No.of tiles required to cover the region of dimensions 70cm and 36cm is 42
