The artery carries blood to liver and the veins carry deoxygenated blood to heart and the heart sends this blood to lungs for oxygenation and the blood again returns to heart before going back to the hepatic artery and other arteries of the body. So the rbc goes twice through heart. Hence the circulation is known as double circulation.
