How many times does Dhoni have to run around a rectangular field 100 m long and 30 m wide, so as to cover a distance of 3120 m?
Length (l) of the rectangular field = 100 m
Breadth (b) of the rectangular field = 30 m
So, distance covered by Dhoni after covering one round
= perimeter (boundaries) of the rectangular field
= 2 (l + b)
= 2 (100 + 30)
= 2 (130)
= 2 × 130
= 260 m
So, Dhoni will cover a distance of 260 m after running once around the field.
Now, using the unitary method -
Number of rounds to be made for covering a distance of 260 m = 1
Then, number of rounds to be made for covering 1 m = 1/260
So, number of rounds to be made 3120 m
= 1/260 × 3120
= 1×3120/260
= 3120/260
= 12.
