As we know the tides are caused by the gravitational attraction exerted by the moon and the sun and the centrifugal force of the earth. A high tide occurs on the two sides of the earth, one is facing the moon and the other side away from it. Between these two sides occurs a low tide. Since the earth takes 24 hours for one rotation, there are two high tides and two low tides during a day. It takes around six hours for a low tide to come after a high tide.
