thus perimeter of original square would be : a+a+a+a(i.e sum of length of all four side)=4*a(or four times of a). Now ,lets turn to your question. If it's side gets double; then all of it's side would be double(since square has all side of equal length

perimeter of a square whose side is doubled=4(2x)= 8x
