Tipu Sultan fought with the British in three wars - the Second, Third and the Fourth Anglo-Mysore Wars.
The Second Anglo-Mysore War was fruitful to him with many victories. He even signed the Treaty of Mangalore with them in 1784.
However, in the Third Anglo-Mysore War, he lost many of his territories to the British, especially Malabar and Mangalore. This happened with his signing of the Treaty of Seringapatnam.
The Fourth Anglo-Mysore War resulted in him being defeated by the British and eventually, his death.
