SOLUTION

TO DETERMINE

The number of possible two-digit numbers such that the sum of all digits is equal to 15

EVALUATION

Let the two digits are x , y

Then the number is of the form 10x + y

Now sum of digits = 15

∴ x + y = 15

Which is possible only when

  • x = 6 , y = 9 then number is 69

  • x = 7 , y = 8 then number is 78

  • x = 8 , y = 7 then number is 87

  • x = 9 , y = 6 then number is 96

Hence the possible numbers are 69 , 78 , 87 , 96

Hence the total number of possible two-digit numbers such that the sum of all digits is equal to 15 = 4
