Taxonomy is divided into five types, such as :-

1. Alpha taxonomy:- This type of taxonomy is based upon external and morphological characters.

2. Beta Taxonomy:- This type of taxonomy is based upon both external and the internal structures. Such as cell internal structures,and developmental processes.

3. Omega taxonomy:- This type of taxonomy is based upon all the data related or available of a particular type of plant variety.

4. Cytotaxonomy:- This taxonomy is based upon the cytological structures such as chromosome structure, number and behaviour.

5. Chemotaxonomy:- This type of taxonomy is based upon the chemical constituents which are present in plants such as amino acids, fatty acids, carbohydrates (mostly polysaccharides), nucleic acid etc.
