How many types of engines are there?

there are two types of engine and they are:

1) internal combustion engine: when the combustion of fuel take place inside the engine like a car it is known as internal combustion engine.

2) External combustion engines: When the combustion of fuel takes place outside the engine like in a steam engine it is known as an external combustion engine.
