INDIA has so many political parties....But we can listen mainly two party allies...

NDA...NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE

UPA...UNITED PROGRESSIVE ALLIENCE

....These are major alliance which ruled recently...another one is left parties...

Now regional parties like TRS ,YSR congress,Trunamul congress,DMK,AIADMK, TDP,...LIKE parties trying to form a new alliance.

There are two types of political parties in India:

1) National Political Parties

2) State Political Parties

National political parties are those parties which are 'nation wide', i.e. they have their units in more than one state. A party needs to secure 6% votes in the Lok Sabha elections, or in Assembly elections of four states, and win four seats in Lok Sabha elections, to be recognised as a national political party.

Example, INC, BJP

State political parties are those parties which are present in only one state. Some of them are conscious of their state identity, while others are national parties which have succeeded in just one state. A party needs to secure 6% votes in the Assembly elections of a state and win 2 seats in the Legislative Assembly of the state to be recognised as a state police party.

Example, BSP (in UP), Asom Gana Parishad (in Assam)
