ANSWER

There are basically four types of tissues connective tissue, epithelial tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue.

EXPLANATION

1) Connective Tissue

  • They support , protect and give structure to other tissues and organs and also transport substances within the body
  • They are made up of fibres , cells and gell-like substances
  • They consist of cells surrounded by a type of fluid called the Extracellular Matrix (ECM).

Types : bone, cartilage, fat, blood, and lymphatic tissue.

2) Epithelial Tissue

  • They form the covering of all body surfaces and line body cavities and hollow organs and are the major tissue in glands
  • They perform protection, secretion, absorption, excretion, filtration, diffusion, and sensory reception.
  • Epithelial tissue is composed of cells laid together in sheets with the cells tightly connected to one another.

Types : squamous, cuboidal or columnar epithelia.

3) Muscle tissue

  • Muscle tissue is composed of cells that have the special ability contract in order to produce movement of the body parts
  • The contractile proteins here are Actin and Myosin
  • Muscle tissue is composed of long cells called muscle fibers that have a striated appearance

Types : skeletal muscle tissue, smooth muscle tissue, and cardiac muscle tissue.

4) Nervous Tissue

  • Found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
  • It controls body activities
  • Nervous tissue is made up of cells that transmit impulses in order to help the body function .

Types : neurons and neuroglia.

Answer:

There are 4 basic types of tissue: connective tissue, epithelial tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue. Connective tissue supports other tissues and binds them together (bone, blood, and lymph tissues).
