ANSWER
There are basically four types of tissues connective tissue, epithelial tissue, muscle tissue, and nervous tissue.
EXPLANATION
1) Connective Tissue
- They support , protect and give structure to other tissues and organs and also transport substances within the body
- They are made up of fibres , cells and gell-like substances
- They consist of cells surrounded by a type of fluid called the Extracellular Matrix (ECM).
Types : bone, cartilage, fat, blood, and lymphatic tissue.
2) Epithelial Tissue
- They form the covering of all body surfaces and line body cavities and hollow organs and are the major tissue in glands
- They perform protection, secretion, absorption, excretion, filtration, diffusion, and sensory reception.
- Epithelial tissue is composed of cells laid together in sheets with the cells tightly connected to one another.
Types : squamous, cuboidal or columnar epithelia.
3) Muscle tissue
- Muscle tissue is composed of cells that have the special ability contract in order to produce movement of the body parts
- The contractile proteins here are Actin and Myosin
- Muscle tissue is composed of long cells called muscle fibers that have a striated appearance
Types : skeletal muscle tissue, smooth muscle tissue, and cardiac muscle tissue.
4) Nervous Tissue
- Found in the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.
- It controls body activities
- Nervous tissue is made up of cells that transmit impulses in order to help the body function .
Types : neurons and neuroglia.
