There are 7 union territories namely -

• Dadra and Nagar Haveli
• Daman & Diu
• Lakshadweep
• Delhi
• Andaman and Nicobar Islands
• Puducherry.

• Union territories with their own legislatures.

• Lieutenant Governor as the administrators the Union Teritories.

• Earlier there was only one Union Teritory when the Constitution was accepted in the year 1949.

• It was only Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

• Puducherry includes - Karikal, Mahe and Yanam. They were former French colonies.

• They are combined together as one Union Teritory. That is why Puducherry is marked on 4 different places in the map.
