Complete Question :- Aruna has to fence her rectangular garden which is 50m long and 30m wide. She wants to have 3 rounds of barbed wire fixed to wooden poles around the garden. The distance between two poles should be 5m.

see the above the passage and answer the questions :-

1. How many wooden poles are needed for the fence?

2. What is the length of the barbed wire she needs?

3. Find the cost of wire, if 1 metre costs Rs. 10.

4. If the number of rounds is increased to 5 then how much ex money is needed for fencing ?

Solution :-

→ Perimeter of rectangular garden = 2(Length + Breadth) = 2(50 + 30) = 2 * 80 = 160 m .

so,

→ the length of the barbed wire she needs for 3 rounds = 3 * Perimeter of rectangular garden = 3 * 160 = 480 m (Ans.2)

now,

→ Distance between two poles = 5 m .

so,

→ Total wooden poles are needed for the fence = 480/5 = 96 poles (Ans.1)

[ Note :- She needed 96 poles if for each round she use different pole . if she use same pole for all 3 rounds then total poles needed will be 160/5 = 32 poles.]

so,

→ The cost of wire = Total length of the barbed wire * Rate/m = 480 * 10 = Rs.4800 (Ans.3)

now,

→ for 5 rounds cost of wire = 5 * 160 * 10 = Rs.8000 .

therefore,

→ Extra money she needs for fencing = 8000 - 4800 = Rs.3200 (Ans.4)
