Earth Scientist use fractals to measure and predict natural disasters..
Even though maths is supposed to give the most accurate answers (prediction) we still can't predict many natural disasters like earthquake, wildfires , volcanic eruptions etc. Still maths gives the closet information (prediction) as it can.
Maths through the invention of various scales we can measure the extent of natural disasters and with the help of fractals ( a mathematical formula of a pattern that repeats over a wide range of size and time scale )
