In flowering plants, two male gametesfrom a single pollen grain fuse with two female gametes, the egg and central cells, to form the embryo and endosperm, respectively. The question then arises whether the two male gametes fuse randomly with the egg and central cells.

Hi Frnd,
Here's Ur answer:
The pollen grain produces two sperm nuclei, one sperm nucleus fuses with the egg nucleus to form an embryo ( process is called syngamy) and another fuses with polar nuclei to form endosperm. This process of fusion of polar nuclei with the sperm to give rise to endosperm is called triple fusion. Since two kinds of fusion—syngamy and triple fusion—take place, the process is known as double fertilisation.
Hope this may be helpful to u... frndd
