Poor farming practices are shortcuts that destroy the environment to the point that the environment can no longer sustain normal, healthy growth. When agriculture fields replace natural vegetation, topsoil is exposed and can dry out. The diversity and quantity of microorganisms that help to keep the soil fertile can decrease, and nutrients may wash out this makes it harder to farm and also makes the land vulnerable to soil erosion and increasing the chances of soil being washed away by the rain. Improper agricultural practices lead to the pollution of both soil and water, this explains why the topography of Potwar plateau is so dry and lacks so much greenery. Not only that it also looks very polluted making it less habitual place for people to settle in. The increased use of chemicals, as fertilizer and pesticide, has disturbed the natural composition of nutrients in the soil, it also contributes to climate change, pollutes air and water, and depletes soil fertility.
