Weathering is disintegration of  particles from its original position due to influences. When water is exposed to a brick it becomes very soft , this makes its particles soft and susceptible to disintegration, when soaked place dries it cracks leading to breaking and falling off of the particles. Therefore bricks should be kept off from water to increase its durability.
