For mining, earth is dug, and before this, all the forest cover in that region is destroyed, and thus, it makes the soil loose leading to land degradation. Over-irrigation makes the soil clayey and dampy, thus leading to land degradation.

For mining, the earth surface is dug out. This needs cutting of plants, trees and other flora.Minigngis done under great depths which displaces the soil from one place to another and this leads to land degradation or soil degradation.
