When Modi came to power, we had following issues.

Background:

Economy was almost stagnated due to no policy decision was taken, Current Account Deficit was very high, Inflation was high, We were under the threat of our credit rating getting down graded. No New investment was coming due to retrospective tax issue etc., High rate of corruption, tax evasion, Soaring real estate prices making any new business unviable. Social sector benefits not reaching the needy. Overall it was chaotic situation. Unfortunately it was impacting the people who could not speak up so we never use to know the seriousness.

How is Modi Solving it:

1 Economy: He is working on two high import items i.e Defence and petroleum products. In Defence he is promoting Make In India forcing people to have some manufacturing happening in India. This is will reduce our imports of spare parts and in future we may become exporters of defence equipment. On Petroleum products he is aiming at 175 GW of solar power. Very shortly we will have automobiles running on electricity. This will bring down our imports.

Tax: By demonetisation and GST he is bringing more and more people under tax brackets and it is almost becoming impossible to evade. Earlier people used to collect tax but never used to pay to the government. That is not going to be easy now.

Plugging Pilferages: By using Aadhar and DBT he is making sure the subsidies and benefits go directly to the needy and not the middlemen.

Social Sector: Social sector reforms are like insurance scheme, health scheme, universal housing scheme, sanitation, etc.. will give people basic security.

Farming; Crop insurance will protect farmers. Micro irrigation projects modernisation of technology etc., One of the major input cost to the farming is labour. By bringing in technology and having higher yield of crops will benefit farmers. This will lead to Agro Processing. Already we are seeing excessive crops in states like Gujrat and Maharashtra which is leading to price crashes. The focus is on processing so that it can be exported.

Infrastructure: He is building roads, railways and water ways. More importantly they are integrating all. This will ease the logistics, movement of people and goods helping trade to increase. Now the focus is on east which is lagging behind the rest of the country.

Jobs: It is impossible for government to give jobs, the only alternate way is to create environment conducive for self employment. He has brought in MUDRA, Start Up India etc to create small jobs and self employment groups.

Foreign Affairs: He is building relationships based on what is good for country and not based on whom should we be aligned.
