Given :   40° C water should be mixed with 20 L of 85° C water to

make a 58° C water

To Find : How much Water should be mixed

Solution:

Let say  x liter of 40° C water should be mixed

Final temperature = 58°C

Rise in temperature = 58 - 40 = 18°C

Water = x liter

Water at 85°C =  20 liter

Drop in temperature = 85 - 58  = 27°C

Hence  18 * x =  20 * 27

=> x = 540/18

=> x= 30

so 30 liter of  40° C water should be mixed with 20 L of 85° C water to

make a 58° C water
