The calorie intake of a region is calculated by keeping in mind the type of work or job majority of people do in the region. In a rural area majority of people are engaged more work involving a lot of physical activity like working in farms, factories, etc. Whereas in an urban area people are involved in work requiring less physical activity. Hence the calorie intake of a rural area will generally be more than that of an urban area.
According to the Global Food Report published by the Food and Agriculture Organisation the minimum calorie intake for
rural area is 2047 calorie
urban area is 2020 calorie.
