he calorie is defined as the amount of energy (heat) needed to increase the temperature of one gram of water by1°C. The SI energy unit is the joule. 1Calorie = 4.186 joule. The heat required would be 4.018 J. This is called the specific heat capacity of water at 25 degree Celsius I.e room temperature.
