how much below from the surface of the earth does g become half of its value at the earth's surface.(assume earth to be a homogenous sphere of radius R meter)

Answer:

Radius of earth - R

gravity from

core to crust } - g

so, area of earth - πr²

πr² = g ( gravity is constant at crust )

πr²/2 = g/2 ( half of the value of g )

πr²/2 = g/2 ( we got a perimeter ofsemicircle )

so, πr²/2 m from core to crust ...

surface(g/2) = total - from core ..

= πr² - πr²/2

= πr²/2 m .....
