How much copper can be obtained from 100 g of copper sulphate solution?

1 mole of CuSO4 contains 1 mole of copper.

Molar mass of CuSO4

= Atomic mass of [Cu � 1 + S � 1 + O � 4 ]

=(63.5) + (32.00) + 4(16.0) = 63.5 + 32.0 + 64.0

= 159.5 g

Here molar mass of Cu is 159.5 g so that 159.5 of CuSO4 will produce 1 mole of Cu and mass of 1 mole of Cu is 63.5 g of copper.

So 100 g of CuSO4 will produce = \[\frac{{63.5 \times 100}}{{159.5}} = 39.8g\]

Answer : Amount of copper obtained from 100 g CuSO4 = 39.8
