Brilliant question. First of all i’d like to appreciate you for asking such a good question.

Now,coming direct to the crux of it,an indian olympic sprinter earns much less as compared to the olympic sprinters from the west.The goverment of India does have a scheme known as the ‘Olympic GoldQuest’ under which every athlete who has a chance to do a podium finish gets 1,00,000 per month.But,the fact is this amout is very less if all the expenses are taking into account of an olympian i.e. Food supplements,gym,spikes etc

moreover,we don’t have a league for athletics in India such as IPL,ISL etc.

so the sprinters are only dependent on the govt. support.they do get some support from the state and other schemes but the amout is really less.also,finding a sponsor here in India is a big big task.
