5 {x}^{2} - 3x + 7 - (3 {x}^{2} - 5x + 2)

 = 5 {x}^{2} - 3x + 7 - 3 {x}^{2} + 5x - 2

Bringing the like terms together

 = 5 {x}^{2} - 3 {x}^{2} - 3x + 5x + 7 - 2

 = 2 {x}^{2} + 2x + 5

So the given equation that is 3x² - 5x + 2 exceeds 5x² + 3x + 7 by 2x² + 2x + 5
