Given Data:
Height of the wall = H =  4 m
Length of the wall = L = 10 m
Force exerted by the atmosphere on the wall = F = ?
Solution:
We know that,
Pressure = Force / Area ........... (1)
Since,
Pressure = 1.013 x 10⁵ Pa
Area = Length x Height
Area = 10 x 4
Area = 40 m²
Put all these values in equation (1),
Pressure = Force / Area
1.013 x 10⁵ = Force / 40
Force = (1.013 x 10⁵) x (40)
Force =  4052000 N
Force = 4.05 x 10⁶ N
which shows that the atmosphere exerts a force of 4.05 x 10⁶ N on one side of the vertical wall.
