Given:

  • Mass of the object = 13 kg
  • Initial velocity = 20 m/s
  • Final velocity = 12 m/s
  • Time taken = 3.5 s

To find :-

  • Force

Solution :-

We first need to find the acceleration in order to do that simply use the first equation of motion

⟹ v = u + at

here ,

  • v = final velocity
  • u = initial velocity
  • a = acceleration
  • t = time taken

⟹ 12 = 20 + a x 3.5

⟹ 3.5 a = -8

⟹ a = -8 /3.5

⟹ a = - 2.28 m/s²

Note : negative sign denotes deceleration

Now that we have the acceleration of the object let's find it's force

By using Newton's Second Law of motion ,

⟹ F = ma

⟹ F = 13 x -2.28

⟹ F = - 29.64 N

⟹ | F| = 29.64 N

The magnitude of force acting on the object is 29. 64 N
