◆ Solution-

In acidified water, hydrogen is iberated at cathode by reaction-

2H+ + 2e- ---> H2


Two moles of e- are required to liberate 1 mole of H2.

Here, 1 F gives 1 mol of e- which will liberate 1/2 mol of H2.


Weight of H2 = Molecular mass × no of moles

Weight of H2 = 2 × 1/2

Weight of H2 = 1 g.
