dipole moment is the system of two charges of equal in magnitude but opposite in nature are separated very small distance. Let q and - q are two charges are sperated distance d , then dipole moment = q × d . It is vector quantity .

From above explanation it is clear that dipole moment is directly proportional to charge. In case of non- polar molecule . Charge = 0
So, dipole moment = 0
example :- Dipole moment of BF₃ = 0, because BF₃ is non-polar molecule.

Hence, for non - polar molecule dipole moment = 0
