Answer:Mass percent = mass of solute / mass of solution .

Where mass of solution = mass of solute + mass of solvent

Here mass of solution = 500g

Mass percentage = 3%

Let the mass of solute be x.

Then 3%  = x / 500

⇒ x = 15g

Hence mass of sugar is 15 g

∴ mass of solvent = mass of solution - mass of solute

∴ mass of solvent = 500 g - 15g

⇒ mass of solvent = 485g

Therefore mass of common slat is 15 gm and water is 485 gm
