The momentum of the object is 40kgm/s.

Given:-

Mass of the object = 10kg

Height from which object falls = 80cm

To Find:-

The momentum of the object.

Solution:-

We can easily calculate the momentum of the object by following these simple steps.

As

Mass of the object (m) = 10kg

Height from which object falls (s) = 80cm = 0.8m

g = 10m/s²

And since the object is dropped, then its

initial velocity (u) = 0

So, before going to the momentum first we should find out the final velocity by using the third equation of motion.

 {v}^{2}  =  {u}^{2}  + 2as

 {v}^{2}  =  {0}^{2}  + 2 \times 10 \times 0.8

 {v}^{2}  = 2 \times 8

 {v}^{2}  = 16

v =  \sqrt{16}

v = 4

Now, according to the formula of momentum

momentum = mass × velocity

p = m \times v

p = 10 \times 4

p = 40

Hence, The momentum of the object is 40kgm/s.
