we know that, ABCD is a square

i.e. AB =BC= CD =AD

from (i) let the common variable for AB and BC be x

therefore, x + x = 44

2x = 44

x = 44/2 = 22

→ AB = BC = CD = AD = 22cm

thus, the area of square ABCD

is S²= (22)² = 484cm²
