Percentage area in Punjab is under forests:
- Punjab is a small state in northwestern India.
- It is a hilly state with different mountain chains intersecting it. But, it has huge agricultural lands.
- The forest covers were at one time cleared up to make lands for agriculture.
- But, slowly increasing awareness made people plant more trees.
- Punjab has a total land area of around 50 thousand square kilometers.
- In 2003 only 6.3 % of land was under forest cover which is 2011 to 2017 has increased to about 6.87 to 7 % of total land area.
- The forest contains typical mountain trees and shrubs.
