So in 500 ml solution we know 16% is pure alcohol.

So in solution there is 0.16×500 = 80 ml of pure alcohol.

So to make 30% let required amount of pure alcohol be x ml.

So on adding alcohol we get :

(x+80)/(x+500) = 0.30 [30%]

So : x + 80 = 0.3x + 150

So : 0.7x = 70

Hence : x = 100 ml

Thus required amount of pure alcohol to be added is 100 ml.
