how much salt must be added to 60 kg of a 20% solution of salt to increase it to a 40% solution of salt

amount of solution= 60kg

present amount of salt= 20%

therefore amount= 20/100*60

                            = 12 kg

new amount = 40%

amount= 40/100*60

           = 24 kg

new- old

24-12

=12 kg

therefore 12 kg has to be added
