how much salt must be added to 60 litres of a 20%solution of salt to increase it ta a 40%solution of salt​

In 60 litres, amount of salt is 20% of 60

= 20/100 *60 = 12 .

let amount of salt to be added be X to increase the solution of 40% solution of salt.

so, the amount of salt in a 40% of solution is X+12

= X+12 = 40/100*60

=X+12=24

=X=12

hence, amount of salt added is 12..
