Answer:

102.39 m

Step-by-step explanation:

distance covered moving on side 400+120 = 520 m

distance covered diagonally √400x400 + 120x120

= 417.612

difference 102.3877

nearest tenth 102.39 m

Answer;

Step-by-step explanation:

Perimeter of rect. field=2(l+b) =2(400+120)

= 2(520) = 1040m

length of rectangle=400m

breadth of rectangle=120m

let the diagnol of rectangle be "x"

since, all the angles of rectangle is 90°

therefore, we can apply a pythagorous theoreom in it,,

(120)^2+ (400)^2=(x)^2

x^2= 14400+160000

x= 417.61226m

# 1040m- 417.61226m = 622.38774m or 622.39m(approx)

distance is to walk diagnolly across a rect. field than around the sides....
