EXPLANATION
Let, Initial pressure be P1 and initial volume be V1
∵ The volume has to be decreased by 5%, so the final volume of the gas is, V2= V-Vx5%=V-V/20= 19V/20.
Let P2 be the final pressure of the gas.
We know that,
P1V1=P2V2
=>P2=P1V1/V2
=P1V1/19V/20
=>P2=(20/19) P1=1.05 P1
∴ Increase in pressure=P2-P1=1.05 P1- P1=0.05 P1
∴ The pressure has to be increased by 0.05 multiple of the initial pressure.
hope it helps!!!!
