4x-3y=-5
4x=-5+3y
x=-5+3y/4

since -3y does not contain the variable to solve for,move it to right side of the equation by adding 3y to both sides.
4x=3y+5
divide each term by 4 and simplify
divide each term in 4x = 3y+5 by 4
4x/4 = 3y/4 + 5/4
cancel out the common factor
X =3y/4 + 5/4.
