Speed

x : y = 3 : 4

Therefore, time

x : y = 4 : 3

3u = 36

1u = 36 / 3 = 12

4u = 12 x 4 = 48.

Answer: 48 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The ratio between the speed of x and y is 3 : 4.

i.e. \dfrac{\text{Speed of x}}{\text{Speed of y}}=\dfrac{3}{4}  (1)

Let d be the same distance traveled by x and y.

Formula for speed : \dfrac{d}{\text{time}}

Let t be the time taken by x .

Now, from (1), we have

\dfrac{\dfrac{d}{t}}{\dfrac{d}{36}}=\dfrac{3}{4}\\\\\Rightarrow\ \dfrac{36}{t}=\dfrac{3}{4}\\\\\Rightarrow\ t=\dfrac{36\times4}{3}=48

Hence, x takes 48 minutes to reach the destination.
