How much time will be taken by a 5 kg stone when it fall from a hight in a 500m well ?

we know that...
s= ut + 1/2 at^2

here as the body is FREELY FALLING...

=> u=0m/s

=> a=-gm/s^2= -10m/s^2

also give that downward displacement is 500m. => s= -500m
_________________________________

so....

s= (0)t +1/2at^2

=> s= 1/2 at^2

=> t^2=2s/g

=> t = √(2s/g)

so...

=> t= √[2×(-500/-10)]

=>t= √100

=> t= 10sec

here we saw that for a freely falling body the time taken by the object to reach the ground is independent of mass of that object...
