Answer:

0.01 L

Explanation:

given: N1 = 0.1N

V2=10ml

N2=0.1N

by the formula

V1N1=V2N2

So first of all

10 ml is equal to 0.01L

so,

keeping the values in formula

V1×0.1 = 0.01 × 0.1

V1= 0.01 L

we have to find the volume of 0.1 N NaOH will neutralize 10 ml of 0.1 N phosphonic acid.

To find : chemical formula of phosphonic acid = H₃PO₃ ( also known as phophorous acid)

let x ml of 0.1N NaOH is neutralized by using 10 ml of 0.1 N H₃PO₃.

chemical reaction between NaOH and H₃PO₃ is given by, NaOH + H₃PO₃ ⇒NaH₂PO₃ + H₂O

here it is clear that change in oxidation no of H₃PO₃ is only one.

so, n -factor of H₃PO₃ = 1

you know n - factor of NaOH = 1

so using formula,

N₁V₁ = N₂V₂

⇒0.1N × x ml = 0.1 N × 10 ml

⇒x = 10

Therefore the volume of phosphonic acid, H₃PO₃ is 10 ml
