Nutrients are replenished by some certain microorganisms found in the soil. The decaying plant especially the humus found in the top layer of the soil break down into nutrients over a period of time.
Addition of manure and fertilizers can also give nutrients to the soil.

Nutrients replenished in the soil naturally by-

  1. Decomposition of dead plants and animals.
  2. Bacteria like Rhizobium fix atmospheric nitrogen into its compund form which is abosorbed by plants.
  3. Farmers usually enrich the soil by adding manures and fertilisers.
  4. Manures and fertilisers contain one or more of the nutrients that plants need.
