How opening and closing of stomata is regulated ?

The guard cell is responsible for controlling the size of the stomata.

As the epidermis got bulge with the accumulation of water due to osmosis, the pores get filled and results in opening of stomata. When the pores loses water, the walls shrink, results in closing of stomata.
