The question refers to the poem ,"No men are foreign" by James Kirkup.
"Defile" means to ruin the sacredness of something. So, according to the poem, the earth is sacred, yet we disrespect it. The earth is meant for all human beings, yet humans themselves have divided it into countries. Further, these political divisions have given rise to hatred which in turn have triggered wars. The weapons used in these wars kill so many humans that it creates a hell like situation on earth. The earth that is supposed to sustain life becomes the opposite of what it is meant to be. This is how human actions defile earth and ruin everything that nature and God meant to bless humans with.
