In both groups we found a significant reduction in retinal and optic nerve head volume and flow after breathing 100% oxygen. In the non-smoking group, retinal volume was reduced by 26% (p = 0.005) and flow by 33% (p = 0.005); and optic nerve head volume was reduced by 37% (p = 0.005) and flow by 37% (p = 0.005).
